LUDHIANA: A cultural procession featuring more than 25 universities marked the beginning of the 31st north zone youth festival. This was followed by the inaugural ceremony. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, vice-chancellor PAU, David Sampson, joint secretary, AIU, Madam Neelam Grewal, Dr Om Gauri Dutt Sharma, deputy director general, Doordarshan Kendra, Jalandhar, Dr Jaswinder Bhalla and dean PGS lit the ceremonial lamp.
Director, students' welfare, PAU R K Dhaliwal warmly welcomed students and faculty members from various universities. Addressing the gathering, he urged the students to channelize their energy in a constructive manner.
Dr Jaswinder Bhalla, cultural coordinator, PAU assured the participants of a comfortable stay, saying that all arrangements have been made to the best of their ability. The visitors seemed to enjoy the ambience of the varsity and the warmth of the hosts. Jasmine, a student of Doon University, Uttarakhand said, "We are quite comfortable here in PAU. It is quite a big university and we are grateful to the organizers for giving us such a platform."
SK Sharma, the main observer of the youth fest said, "It is interesting to see students putting in their heart in their work."
Shivam Sharma from Dr BR Ambedkar University, Uttar Pradesh said with the essentials well taken care of, they are free to broaden their horizons by interacting with people. "Things are quite well planned. Accommodation and food have been provided and we are focusing on interacting with more people," Sharma said.
Dr Nirmal Jaura, a faculty member from Panjab University, Chandigarh appreciated the diverse aspects of culture that came together at PAU. "With students from different states sharing one platform, cultural diversity has been presented in all its glory. We will have a good time here," he said.
